We just discovered International Canned Cocktail Day is celebrated annually on September 10 and we’re totally there for it.
The celebration is an opportunity to highlight and enjoy pre-mixed, ready-to-drink cocktails that are convenient and portable. The holiday, first observed in 2018, encourages the consumption of beverages made with authentic ingredients and premium spirits, offering a bar-quality experience in an easy package.
This September, Curatif has launched two limited-edition Bartender Spotlight cocktails that are timed perfectly for International Canned Cocktail Day.
Two of Australia’s sharpest cocktail minds, Matt Linklater and Kayla Saito—the duo behind Drink Tall Orders—have crafted the cocktails, which rewrite the rulebook.
The pair are relentless innovators with an eye for detail and a taste for adventure. Together, they’ve designed two game-changing drinks that showcase just how far the humble can can go.
The Prickly Pear Margarita features Estancia Raicilla, 100% agave spirit, fresh prickly pear, rosella tea, fresh lime, shochu and Sancho Bitters.
As Curatif founder Matt Sanger describes it, “prickly pear is a cactus that tastes like watermelon, cucumber and pineapple had a holiday fling”.
“The palate is a riot of agave, orchard fruit and tropical brightness—think Corella pear, red apple, lychee – all made irresistible by Shochu’s savoury whisper,” Sanger continues.
“The finale? Fresh, cheeky, and just a little numbing. A Margarita that won’t quit.”
The second cocktail is a Green Mango Daiquiri, featuring Killik Silver Overproof Rum, green mango juice, mango nectar, fresh lime and lemon myrtle.
Sanger describes it as “the Daiquiri you didn’t know you needed”.
He continues: “Built on Killik Silver Overproof Rum (Belgrave’s own funk-forward hero), tart green mango, lush nectar, lime, and a curveball of lemon myrtle that fits like it was born there. The result? Zingy, tropical, a little wild – like ’90s Waikiki colliding with Aussie botanicals.”
The two Bartender Spotlight cocktails are available exclusively at curatif.com – but only for a limited time.
